Pascha

Getting ready for to go to church.  This year, we let the kids stay up instead of putting them to bed for a couple of hours and then wake them up at 10:30.

The younger two were quickly overwhelmed by sleep.  Greg stayed awake but was extremely tired.

"Come ye take light from the Light, that is never overtaken by night.  Come glorify the Christ, risen from the dead."

The priest, with the Cross, knocks on the doors of the temple as this dialogue is recited:
Priest:  Lift up your gates, O you princes; and be lifted up, you everlasting gates, and the king of Glory shall enter in.

Reader:  Who is this King of Glory?

Priest:  The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle.  lift up your gates, O you princes; and be lifted up, you everlasting gates, and the King of Glory shall enter in.

Reader:  Who is this King of Glory?

Priest:  The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle.  Lift up your gates, O you princes; and be lifted up, you everlasting gates, and the King of Flory shall enter in.

Reader:  Who is this King of Glory?

Priest: The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of Glory!

Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let those who hate him flee from before his face!
As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish; as wax melts before the fire,
So the sinners will perish before the face of God; but let the righteous be glad.
This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death,
and on those in the tombs bestowing life.

The Homily that is read every year at Pascha.  The beauty of God's grace and mercy:
